DRYDEN DIABETES CENTRE ANNUAL FUNDRAISING EVENT

“Diabetic For A Week”

The “Diabetic For A Week” fundraising campaign initiative of the Dryden Diabetes Centre in sponsorship with the Dryden Lions Club and Dryden Safeway store raise awareness of diabetes every November. Over twenty local leaders in our community participate as a “Diabetic For A Week” raising pledges and pretending to be living with diabetes. Participants maintain a diabetic diet and test and record their blood sugars regularly with a glucometre. Another thirty community volunteers participate in a “Top-Up Day” at Dryden Safeway where they bag groceries in return for donations from shoppers. The Diabetes Centre has an information booth and conducts diabetes testing/screening at the Safeway store during  “Top-Up-Days.
